Flowers are such an easy and inexpensive way to bring a little bit of cheer and beauty into our lives. I love all kinds of flowers, and colorful and elegant Tulips are on the top of my list. I enjoy making flower arrangements and often mix Tulips with other flowers, but sometimes I also like using Tulips a la carte. While Tulips are known to be spring flowers, here in SoCal, they are available in stores even in September!
First, I pull the leaves off. Then, I lay the Tulips on the table, and carefully add the flowers in a straight line. Measure the height of the vase I intend to use, and cut the stems with a knife.
Tip: If Tulips are already opened, I use cold water and even add a few ice cubes into the water. If Tulips are not opened yet, I put them into a lukewarm water. To help the flowers stay fresh longer, I throw a few pennies into the water.
Gently twist the stems and put the Tulips into the vase.Did you have any idea that the Tulip bulbs are a good replacement for onions in cooking?! It's true!
Have a cheerful day.
